Op 23 oktober verschijnt het nieuwe album van Sting getiteld ‘If On A Winter’s Night’. Voor dit album met het thema winter heeft Sting samengewerkt met producer en arrangeur Robert Sadin. Het album bevat traditionele muziek van de Britse eilanden zoals 'The Snow It Melts The Soonest' (traditioneel Newcastle ballad), 'Soul Cake' (traditioneel Brits “begging” song) en 'Now Winter Comes Slowly' (Henry Purcell), maar ook twee van Stings eigen composities 'Lullaby For An Anxious Child' en 'The Hounds Of Winter'.
Voor dit album heeft Sting samengewerkt met o.a. gitarist Dominic Miller, violist Daniel Hope, trompettist Chris Botti.
“The theme of winter is rich in inspiration and material,” aldus Sting; “by filtering all of these disparate styles into one album I hope we have created something refreshing and new.” He continues, "Our ancestors celebrated the paradox of light at the heart of the darkness, and the consequent miracle of rebirth and the regeneration of the seasons”.
