Op 2 december verschijnt het nieuwe album van The Black Keys getiteld El Camino. Het album zal via Nonesuch Records wereldwijd worden uitgebracht en is geproduceerd door Danger Mouse en The Black Keys zelf. Het album bestaat uit elf tracks die zijn opgenomen in de Easy Eye Sound studio van zanger/gitarist Dan Auerbach in Nashville, woonplaats van de band. De eerste single van het album heet Lonely Boy en zal op 26 oktober in promotie gaan.
El Camino is de opvolger van het album Brothers waarmee The Black Keys wereldwijd doorbrak. Brothers werd in mei 2010 uitgebracht en is ondertussen goud in zowel de US als de UK, en platina in Canada. Wereldwijd zijn er meer dan één miljoen albums verkocht, waarvan 10.000 stuks in Nederland. Drummer Patrick Carney vertelt over het grote succes van de band sinds de release van Brothers: “We’ve taken the long road to get where we are. It’s pretty cool to be in your early 30s making music with your best friend. We’ve experienced everything from driving a thousand miles to play for no one to winning Grammys.” Dan Auerbach vertelt over de dynamiek binnen de band: “We don't talk before we play. We don’t practice before we record, we just fly by the seat of our pants.” Over hun album El Camino zegt hij: “I think where this record is going to shine for me is playing the songs live. This record is more straight ahead rock and roll – raw, driving, and back to basics.”

The Black Keys bestaat uit Dan Auerbach en Patrick Carney. Het debuutalbum The Big Come Up verscheen in 2002, waarna Thickfreakness (2003), Rubber Factory (2004), Magic potion (2006), Attack & Release (2008) en de grote doorbraak Brothers (2010) volgden.
Op 1 februari 2012 treedt The Black Keys op in het Klokgebouw in Eindhoven.
