Sinds vorige week ligt het live album van de legendarische band The Doors, met de titel ‘Live In Vancouver 1970’ in de winkel. Deze 2CD bevat 22 tracks die zijn opgenomen tijdens de twee uur durende liveshow in de Pacific National Exhibition Coliseum in Vancouver op 6 juni 1970 als onderdeel van de 1970 Roadhouse Blues Tour.
Op het album wordt de band bijgestaan met een viertal nummers door niemand minder dan Blueslegende Albert King. Ook nummers als “Roadhouse Blues”, “Alabama Song (Whisky Bar)”, “Back Door Man” en “Five To One” zijn terug te vinden op de 1CD. Op de 2CD is onder andere het bijna 18 minuten durende “Light My Fire” en “The End” te horen.
‘Live In Vancouver 1970’ is geen multitrack high fidelity opname, maar is daarentegen ´clean and clear´ waardoor de tomeloze energie van de optredens tot haar recht komt.

“What a funky night,” recalls Manzarek in the set’s liner notes. “Jim singing his ass off with the prod in the butt by a legendary old blues man (King).”
“Jim lit Albert King's cigar, and we were off!” remembers Densmore.
“The Vancouver show was so much fun for me because one of my heroes (King) was our second act,” says Krieger. “Not only did we get to hang with the man, but we convinced him to come up and jam with us.”
